Native Totara coffee table
Handcrafted using a single slab of 900 year old Native totara. The rare timber slab used in this coffee table was cut from a huge totara log that was salvaged from the Pureora forest. Totara is New Zealands second largest tree reaching heights of 35m tall 4m in diameter and growing upto 1800 years old, a true giant of New Zealands ancient forests.
The table top contains alot of beautiful natural character (cracks,holes,voids) which have filled with a tinted black epoxy resin to capture the unique slab in its natural form and beauty. The table top has then been coated in a high gloss liquid glass epoxy resin which gives amazing clarity and protection to such a special piece of Timber.
The base has been handcrafted from solid steel for maximum stability and finished in a satin black along with some curved totara timber features.
